MY PET NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET. WILL YOU TAKE THEM?
Yes I will only ever take your pet to your preferred vets in the event of an emergency. All costs will be the owners responsibility. We will always contact you or your emergency contact before hand.
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU WALK AT ONCE?
On a group walk, a maximum of 6 dogs will be taken at any one time and 8 to a secure field.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Pets & Walks Terms - Updated 22/10/2024
Clients are asked to read and agree to the following terms before signing their dogs up for Pets and Walks dog walking services and pet sitting services. Failure to agree to the terms below can result in any walking/sitting commitments taking place. Up to date terms and conditions will always be available to view on the Pets and Walks website and Clients are recommended to review these for changes every 6 months.
Pets and walks hereby agree that we shall act with integrity, responsibility and trustworthiness to clients, client’s pets, and client’s property. The welfare of client’s pets is paramount, and their safety and wellbeing shall not be made subordinate to any other consideration.
To ensure we fulfil our obligations to you the client, we ask all new customers take a few minutes to read the terms and conditions below –
1. By enrolling your dog(s), I represent that I am the legal owner of the named dog(s), and I assume all risks, dangers, and responsibility for injuries to the named dog(s).
2. All dogs must pass a general behaviour assessment to qualify for dog walking. No dog may be walked that shows any signs of any type of aggression. I confirm my dog(s) is friendly to other dogs and humans and shows no aggression unless I have made you fully aware of it. Any dog demonstrating aggression or other behaviour deemed to be unacceptable by Pets and Walks staff may be required to make alternative walking arrangements irrespective of the length of time the dog has been enrolled with Pets and Walks.
3. My dog(s) is fit and healthy and is capable of play and exercise with other dogs unless I have made you aware of any issues during the meet and greet.
4. My dog(s) is healthy and will always while being walked by Pets and Walks, have current vaccinations including the kennel cough vaccine and regular treatment for worms, ticks, and fleas. I will provide Pets and Walks with an up-to-date copy of my dog(s) vaccination record annually. I am not enrolling any dog with Pets and Walks that has any condition that could potentially jeopardise the health of other dogs or people and has not had any potentially communicable condition within 21 days prior to enrolment. I also understand that even if my dog is vaccinated for Kennel Cough there is a chance that Kennel Cough can still be contracted. I agree that I will NOT hold Pets and Walks responsible if my dog(s) contracts Kennel Cough.
I am responsible for ensuring the efficacy of any treatment that I give my dog(s) for worms, fleas, and ticks. In addition, I agree to check my dog regularly for ticks and fleas and to inform Pets and Walks of any unwanted passengers. In the event of any fleas being present, I understand my dog(s) will not be able to attend group walks until they are flea free.
5. My dog(s) will always wear a suitable collar with an identity tag and has been microchipped.
6. You will advise us if your female dog is in season. If this is the case, I will walk your dog on the lead and will determine which other dogs are suitable to attend the same walk.
7. To have appropriate insurance to cover my dog(s) personal injury in the unlikely event of an incident alternatively, I agree to cover any costs relating to accidents that may occur which result in injury to my dog. All interaction and dog play are monitored by daycare staff to avoid incidents however, I understand my dog(s) may sustain accidental injuries and I agree to cover any veterinary fees pertaining to my dog. Pets and walks nor its employees will not accept responsibility for the death, injury, or illness of your dog whilst in our care. You are strongly advised to insure your pet for all eventualities.
8. My dog(s) has not been suffering from any infectious or contagious diseases/illnesses or been exposed to such a disease/illness during the 21 days prior to attending Pets and Walks group walks.
9. My dog(s) can be let off the lead on walks, unless the owner has requested otherwise.
10. My dog(s) can travel within the purpose-built transport or secured in either a seat or back of van if not suited to a crate/cage with a dog from another household providing they have been introduced prior to travelling and Pets and Walks are confident that all dogs are safe to travel together.
11. We reserve the right to always act in the best interests of the dog this includes seeking veterinary advice if he/she becomes ill. We will contact you immediately should your dog become ill. If you cannot be contacted within a reasonable time or have chosen not to be contacted, we reserve the right to seek appropriate and swift veterinary attention and proceed with treatment regardless of costs, which you agree to cover. We will do everything needed for the dog as regards treatment, comfort, and recovery. If euthanasia is necessary (determined by the vet) for whatever reason excluding behavioural (aggression etc) we will accept and act upon that vet advice.
12. We reserve the right to refuse or dismiss any dog that does not meet the health, temperament, or other standards. The determination shall be made at the sole discretion of Pets and Walks and Lee may offer solo walks if available if not suitable within the group walks.
13. If dogs require towelling off or hosing after walks, a dog friendly washer and towels will be used to clean your dog unless discussed otherwise at meet and greet.
14. You must ensure access is available to where animal/s are kept, at the times/dates agreed. Charges will still apply if access to the property cannot be gained.
15. The client must provide all items necessary for dogs to be adequately cared for in the client’s absence, ie, leads, tags and collars, harnesses, etc. Poo bags will be supplied by Pets and Walks at all times. Should dogs require any additional supplies whilst in the care of Pets and Walks, these will be purchased and added to the invoice.
16. Pets and Walks reserves the right to apply personal judgement and cut short a walk due to extreme weather conditions (ie, heat, thunderstorms, blizzard, etc) for the safety of both the dogs and the walkers. Please note, we would appreciate no less than 48 hour's notice of any cancellations. Any late cancellations will be liable for the full charge if we are unable to fill the space. I give my permission for a key to be maintained by Pets and Walks if necessary and give permission for access to my house to collect and drop off my dog/s. An emergency number will be provided for anything concerning my dog or my property.
17. your property.
Services provided by the provider at your property will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined above.
the provider will ensure that they leave your property as they found it. you are respectfully asked to note that they will not be subject any additional cleaning duties.
all such bookings will be subject to an initial inspection of the client's property by the provider prior to the booking commencement date. if the pet sitter does not consider that your property is of a reasonable standard of cleanliness or that the facilities available to them are inadequate, the provider may decline the booking.
in the event of a problem or emergency arising contact will be made with the client (or emergency contact provided) and / or necessary authorities.
the client is responsible for making the provider aware all security measures that are regularly taken by the client.
the provider will not be held responsible for any damage / theft from the client’s property during the duration of the sitting, except where these arise out of direct negligence on the provider’s part.
18.INSURANCE AND LIABILITY (PET SITTING ONLY)
It is your responsibility to insure your property and your pet. the provider accepts no liability for damage caused by your pet during an assignment. you will be liable if the provider or a third party is injured by your pet.
pet sitters have insurance in relation to the performance of duties. it is not a substitute for your own insurance cover.
it is recommended that you take out holiday cancellation insurance as the provider may not be able to accommodate pets who become ill or are injured after the booking is confirmed.
the client must before handing over the assignment to the provider make sure they have given full written details and instructions on care of their pet and the house (if house sitting); the provider will not be responsible if full instructions are not given in advance on the assignment.
the client will indemnify the provider against any claims for loss or injury caused to either the provider, their property or the providers pets which are caused by the client’s pet or because of breach of these terms and conditions, negligence or otherwise.
19. KEY COLLECTION, RETURN & HOLDING
If key pick up has been agreed at the meet and greet no charge will be applicable for key pick up or drop off. If key pick up is required and is outside the Thornhill area a charge of £5 will be added to the bill. Keys when not used will be stored away safely in a key safe and will never be handed to anyone without explicit consent from the key owners.
20. PAYMENT INFORMATION
Payment must be made on the day before or day walks/sits are due to commence. Cancellations do happen, if a sit is cancelled, we need at least 48hours notice and 24 hours notice for walks. If the cancellation is for a genuine emergency that couldn’t be avoided payment will be owed in full. Repeated missed or overdue payments will give Pets and Walks full discretion to end any walk/sit agreements.
21. EMERGENCY VET CARE
Every attempt will be made to contact you on the numbers/email provided should a problem arise whilst you’re away or your dog is on a walk. if you are unreachable then we reserve the right to seek veterinary care without your consent either with your local vet whose info you provide us with, or our local area. any fees will be charged to you and must be paid as per the vet’s timescale. emergency vet visits will be chargeable depending on time taken (additional to vet bills) to cover the time supporting your pet. please ensure a cat/pet carrier is available for use.
22. SOCIAL MEDIA
Photos are taken of your pet throughout the stay / walks to reassure you of their welfare. unless stated otherwise at the beginning of the service contract, pets and walks is permitted to post photos of your pet on the pets & walks, social media pages. the photos will always be a close-up image of your pet. no personal objects or other identifying background will be in the photos. pets and walks will also publicly display any testimonials on the pets and walks social media websites unless otherwise discussed.
23. FAMILY BUSINESS
On the rare occasion that Lee is not able to attend a visit, lee’s wife will do so his behalf. of course, you will be consulted on this matter.
Pets and Walks holds a Combined Liability Insurance Policy which covers loss and/or damage to third party property and/or bodily injury to third party persons. Please ask for more details regarding the insured risks and we will be pleased to provide further information.
CAT SIT TERMS

CAT VISITING SERVICES
Spending time with your cat is an important part of my service. I aim to stay on average for 15-30 mins per visit. however, due to unforeseen circumstances, visits may be less than that. any shortfall will be made up during another visit if the schedule permits. it may not be possible to arrive at your requested time of request, but we always aim to be on time but allow 15minutes either side of agreed times. visits are grouped together to maximise on efficiency when out and about. morning visits outside of Thornhill are usually after 10am. evening visits are made between 4-6pm. weekend visits start from 9am. visits on christmas day, boxing day, new years day and the easter weekend may last only 5 minutes due to high demand. in the event of serious bad weather (ie. snow), every attempt will be made to complete the visit. you will be contacted at once if there are any issues. foreseen weather events can be planned for with additional food and trays in case the roads are inaccessible.
FOOD, BEDDING & LITTER
All tinned, packet, fresh and dry food, hay and bedding must be provided in clearly labelled bags or containers to last the duration of the cat visiting service. please ensure there is adequate spare cat litter plus scoop and poop bags. also, leave a brush for daily grooming if required. lastly, please provide a cloth, tea towel and kitchen towel for use to clear up any fur balls or little accidents. Any used food packets will be rinsed to avoid smells developing whilst you’re away. any additional items needing to be purchased for your pet will be charged at retail cost and added to your final balance.

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
PHOTOS ARE TAKEN OF YOUR PET THROUGHOUT YOUR TRIP TO REASSURE YOU OF THEIR WELFARE. UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SERVICE CONTRACT, PETS AND WALKS IS PERMITTED TO POST PHOTOS OF YOUR PET ON THE PETS AND WALKS FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND TWITTER PAGES. THE PHOTOS WILL ALWAYS BE A CLOSE-UP IMAGE OF YOUR PET. NO PERSONAL OBJECTS OR OTHER IDENTIFYING BACKGROUND WILL BE IN THE PHOTOS. PETS AND WALKS WILL ALSO PUBLICLY DISPLAY ANY TESTIMONIALS ON THE PETS AND WALKS SOCIAL MEDIA WEBSITES UNLESS OTHERWISE DISCUSSED.
